Creating a VR experience within Unreal Engine 5 for neuro-relaxation to help with stress reduction

This project was a team project involving three members. The goal of the project was to create a realistic nature themed environment to help relieve stress and mental health issues using Virtual Reality.

My main role for this project was to research, devise, and create a realistic environment within Unreal Engine 5. To do this I used UE5s Quxiel plugin to gain access to high resolution textures, materials and other assets. The realistic aspect was of key importance when it came to VR as we had toconvince the user into truly believing they were in that environment.

Undead Living

This project was based on a game idea where the player would have to venture around the environment to gain supplies to defend themselves against Zombies.

Undead Living was a project where I focused on AI and more importantly spawning of objects. I wanted to add a jump scare horror aspect to the game by having random spawning locations for the Zombies to sneak up on the player as the player is faster than the Zombie. Furthermore, adding a day and night cycle to the game as well as having tall grass and trees to block the players vision further enhanced this.

Sundown

This is a group project I worked on with two other members. We split the roles up and I was in charge of the Level Design and Cinematics. This is a short level where the player is in a rundown city and has to fight their way through enemies and confront the boss to save his brother.

This was a super fun project to work on using Unreal Engine 4 as it allowed for us to experiment with new features such as Sequencer and cine cameras. The map was also very enjoyable to create using asset packs from Unreal Engine Marketplace. To create the map, I first started with a basic block layout to scale which saved me time as it gave me a rough idea of what the map would look like as well as where all the buildings would be placed.

Real Time Rendering

This project involved creating a space themed environment inside Visual Studio using C++ Hieroglyph and DirectX11 where the user can swap between two environments in real time as well as a spaceship following a set path.

This project had a lot of requirements which had to be met such as including planets, one which explodes, two or more environments which can be switched out in real time using key inputs, as well as a spaceship which travels across a set path, and a skybox which would change between night and day.
